The King 800x is the stone I most use to create an even appearance to the surface of the blade road of Japanese kasumi single bevel knives. It's not an effective sharpening stone so please don't buy it for sharpening purposes. The King 800x has been my little (not so secret) secret stone that allows me to create a "misty" look to kasumi constructed knives. It provides a dull finish that is equal to the revered shiny finish provided by expensive natural waterstones but it provides it's results for less than $25. When people see single bevel Japanese knives sharpened by myself they always remark on the beautiful appearance of the blade road and all I can say is, "King 800x".
