Bester 1200x WaterStone
This is a nice wide fast cutting yet slow wearing coarse stone. It leaves a fine finish in this grit range and is an excellent stone to start off a normal sharpening session with as it cuts a bevel quickly. I find it to provide great feedback and ease in feeling the bevel which helps in holding the knife steady and staying level.
Requires 30 min. soak time in water before use.
Size - 210 x 75 x 25mm

Love this one April 12, 2015

The Bester 1200x is a brilliant waterstone. If your knife is not already shaving sharp after this, you are doing something wrong. This stone lives underwater  in a Sterilite container with its partner  Beston  500x.

Nice stone April 10, 2015
Reviewer: James from Cambridge, MA
The bester 1200 stone is a solid stone and has a permanent home in my sharpening progression.
It cuts fast, has good feedback and wears slower compared to the 1k side of my previous stone (1k/4k Togiharu combination stone).

Great Buy August 30, 2013

It does require a lot of water but I simply leave it soaking constantly and there are no problems.

Great starting Stone September 19, 2012

While I prefer the JNS1000 as a starting stone, this is also a great one.  It is a nice size and wears well and feedback is almost as good as the JNS1000.  It dishes just slightly more too, but negligible.  This is a very good stone for the money too.

very fast September 13, 2012
Reviewer: Mark Encarnacion from Issaquah, WA United States
I recently switched to this stone and retired my King 1000. Now I understand what people mean by "fast" stone. I used to have to spend several minutes on the King 1000 before I could raise a burr. Not so with the Bester 1200. Raising a burr is really easy. Great stone! One downside is it needs to soak a long time, ideally an hour or so.
